A Younger, More Exciting Version of ME...
Exciting occurrence for me: Today I happened upon an old mix CD...I'd say a year or two post-college graduation...one that held my most iconic fun-time memories...and although it was BADLY compromised...having been abused and handled by one too many intoxicated hands--perhaps found stuck to the coffee table in one of those morning-after ghoulish clean-up extravaganzas. Needless to say...I had very low expectations of its survival. Right away I had popped it into my car CD player...and it immediately rejected it and its deteriorated state...so sad. Returning home, I tossed it unto the coffee table, forgetting about it...until just now. Claire picked it up, and asked, "What's this?" And on a whim, I gently placed it into the CD drive in my computer...and lo and behold...IT PLAYED! FANTASTIC! I'm SO excited--within moments I was transported back to my glory days...swayin' to and fro...Music is a fabulous and powerful thing...able to transport us back in time in a single bound...a lyrical superhero, if you will! So for the rest of the night I plan to sit here by the glow of my computer screen...maybe light a few candles...and reminisce about a time when I was fun...Yes, you heard it, capital F.U.N.

Pack up the babies and grab the old ladies...
Okay, everyone has that ONE song...you know it...that one song that turns you into a crazy person. Admit it...you are by yourself...no one is around...you crank it out...and suddenly you are like, a superstar. The world has never seen such moves or heard such melodious singing from anyone. Seriously. No one. Because you are special. My song...may be a little off the radar of cool. Okay so like WAY off the radar. But I can't help myself. Neil Diamond. No, I am NOT talking about "Sweet Caroline"...that's way too mainstream. I am referring to "Brother Love's Traveling Salvation Show." For some reason unbeknownst to me...that song speaks to me. Volume up...I am pulling out the hip-shaking, butt-waggin' moves that would have some serious time-out consequences (for those of you familiar with THAT inside joke). Seriously...that one song manages to give me an invincible...bouncing off the walls...can accomplish anything...happy fuzzies all around kind of happiness...Excedrin happiness, if you must. So, I highly encourage all of you to give it a download, and....with an open mind see what Neil Diamond can do for YOU...just stay away from open window shades and large crowds...cuz I'm telling you...it can evoke your alter-ego...
